With one month to go before the end of the year and the decade, I just wanted to get a picture of which assets, sectors, industries… performed well so far in 2019.

Through the mentoring program, I strongly advise my mentees to get a price action picture at least every week. The idea is to know at any point in time, how the different assets have been performing on different timeframes: weekly, monthly, ytd and over 5 years.

And assets, sectors, countries… will differently perform depending on where we are in the Economic Cycle.

Below are the year to date (ytd) performances at the close of Wednesday the 27th of November 2019 for different assets. I use ETFs in U.S. dollar.

If you are looking for Black Friday bargains, arbitrage trades, reversion to the mean trades, sector allocation, country allocation… or just as a good way to be away from Black Friday noise, this is your chance.

  1. Across Asset Classes.

2. By country.

3. By Investment Style

4. By Industry

5. By commodity

Except commodities, 2019 has been so far a very strong year across asset classes, sectors, industries and regions. Nonetheless, there has been proper dispersion between the top winners and the ones at the bottom. It looks like alpha is still possible.

I hope it helps,

Gregoire
